Mastering the Double Jump & Multi-Capture Tactics

The double jump is one of the most game-changing tactical maneuvers in checkers. A single well-timed double jump can completely shatter an opponent's defense and erase their material advantage.

1. What is a Double Jump in Checkers?

A double jump occurs when a piece performs a capture jump over an opponent piece and immediately lands on a dark square from which another opponent piece can be legally jumped in the same turn.

Multi-jumps are compulsory under official rules!

2. Spotting the Checker Gap Pattern

Double jumps rarely happen by accident against competent players. Look for enemy checkers separated by single empty dark squares. If an enemy piece sits on 15 and another sits on 10 with empty landing squares, landing on 15 allows an instant secondary jump to 6.

3. King Multi-Jumps (360-Degree Mobility)

Crowned Kings possess 360-degree mobility. A King can execute multi-jumps in complex L-shapes, zig-zags, and reverse loops, capturing up to 3 or 4 pieces in a single turn.

4. Official Rules & Jump Restrictions
